Alex, Sojourner's newest Board Member

What background do you bring to Sojourner?

I am a father to an almost one year old girl and a husband. I am also an attorney practicing in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions and other corporate/business matters. I also have experience with intellectual property matters. I have also always tried to contribute to our local community, whether it was as an Admissions Ambassador or Assistant Director of Orientation while in law school or serving on various alumni event planning committees since graduating.

Why did you decide to join Sojourner’s board? 

I believe outreach is critical for the matters that Sojourner takes on, and I wanted to support Sojourner’s mission, in particular, in its community outreach and advocacy work, in a more impactful way by joining its board. Unfortunately, domestic violence is a prevalent issue in our society and, in joining, I will learn about Sojourner in even greater depth and become a resource for anyone that may require Sojourner’s services or anyone looking to contribute to or learn more about Sojourner’s mission.

What do you want people to know about the work Sojourner does?

Sojourner provides resources; prior to, during crisis events and after, in an effort to build safer communities. Sojourner’s work is impactful in the communities it connects with and it’s efforts in raising awareness to domestic violence and other interpersonal violence is critical in building such safe communities.
