Why We Give: Minnetonka NHS Students

For years, Minnetonka High School has shown up for our community in quiet, meaningful ways. As a small nonprofit, we’ve been fortunate to partner with students there on a variety of donation drives that directly support our clients. This year, members of the National Honor Society reached out with a thoughtful idea: a donation of paper flowers for Mother’s Day.
Many of the individuals we serve are mothers, and Mother’s Day can be a complicated time. While they are focused on finding stable housing, maintaining employment, and caring for their children, the holiday often arrives quietly. A simple gesture, like a bouquet of flowers, can be a meaningful reminder that they are seen, valued, and appreciated.
One of our advocates reflected:
“Our clients are focused on securing housing, getting to work, and supporting their children, making it easy for Mother’s Day to go unnoticed. They are so moved and appreciative when people take the time to offer their support and donations during such a difficult time in their life. It shows how powerful and healing it can be to bring the community into this space.”
Support from our community makes moments like this possible. Even small donations can have meaningful impacts on our clients. Donations — both large and small — help us meet our clients’ needs and remind them they are never alone.
As one student shared:
“I really enjoy being able to make small, positive impacts in our community. We always want to support local nonprofits and help our neighbors in need. For me, it’s all about giving back — and having fun while doing it.”
We are so grateful for the students at Minnetonka high school for their compassion, thoughtfulness, and heart!
