Last December, our boardroom once again transformed into a “boutique” for our clients to pick out gifts for their families. With the help of our generous community and hardworking staff, 2023 was another successful year. Each client received self-care gifts for themselves, including pajamas and a blanket, and then were able to walk through the boutique to pick out several items for each of their kids. In addition to gifts, many clients received gift cards (Target, Cub or gas) and basic needs items such as toiletries or cleaning products. The room was stocked with things for all ages including speakers, hoodies, sporting goods, legos, dolls and more. This year we served over 131 people!
A note from the new boutique coordinator:
I began working at Sojourner Project in August 2023 and had the pleasure of organizing my first holiday boutique this Fall. There are a few things that will stick with me after this season. First, I will always remember the overwhelming support and love we received from the community all month long. With each donation or volunteer group, there was a story that inspired me to spread kindness and cheer in my own life. Your support helped us bring some joy and comfort to our clients this season. We can’t thank you enough. Second, I will remember the interactions I had with clients and their families. Near the end of the boutique, my colleagues and I shopped for a client who wasn’t able to come to our location. We packed suitcases and backpacks full of gifts, books, diapers and toiletries for her and her 8 children. With all the stressors of life, I hope we were able to provide some relief and bring hope for the future.
